It's that time of year again.

Get your service hours in for your rank advancements!

WE NEED as many ADULTS as possible!

This year's Scouting for Food dates are Saturday, March 14th, and 21st, 2009.

As always this will be a combined event with Cub Scout Pack 127. All scouts, scouters, and adults need to be at the
corner of Jackson St. and Center St. at 8:45am both days.

Saturday, March 14th, 2009 is Bag Drop-off. We will meet at 9am where you will be divided into groups. We are required to have 2 adults per group (tiger cubs need to have their
adult partner present, or 2 tiger cubs per partner). Each group will be given a route to complete, when the
group completes their assigned route they need to return to the corner of Jackson St. and Center St. to pick up additional
routes, untill all routes have been completed.

Remember to use sidewalks at all times, BSA does frowns on walking
through people's grass. Bag are to be placed on doors, screen doors ONLY, NATIONAL BOY SCOUTS of AMERICA POLICY and
FEDERAL POSTAL LAW DOES NOT PERMIT BAGS TO BE PLACED ON UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE
MAILBOXES (please DO NOT place bags in/on any mailbox.)

Saturday, March 21st, 2009 is Bag Pick-up. We will meet at 9am same place. This day will run alittle different, we need
adults to help count the food as it is brought in, as well as vehicles and drivers for the routes. One vehicle and one driver
will be assigned with each BOY SCOUT GROUP; and one vehicle, one driver, and a second adult will
be assigned to each CUB SCOUT GROUP.

CUB SCOUTS are not allowed to step off the curbs into the street to put food
in vehicles, they must hand off the bags to an adult who will then place the food in the vehicles. CUB SCOUTS must stay
out of the streets unless crossing the streets at a crosswalk (per national BSA policy)

Remember scouts will not be premited to leave the event until dismissed by their Scoutmaster / Cubmaster. Any scout
going home with anyone else other than their parent or legal guardian must have a note form their parent or legal
guardian stating with whom they are allowed to leave with.

Bag Drop-off should take from one to two hours, and Bag Pick-up should take from two to three hours, depending upon
the number of people we get to help.

Bushwhack Hike PDF Print E-mail

Troop 127 held its Bushwhack hike at John Bryan State Park.

17 scouts and scouters attended this event.

Pictures taken at this event can be found Here in the troop photo gallery.

We started at the parking lot near Clifton Mills and hiked the south side of the gorge first proceeded to the picnic area. The troop carried backpacking meals for lunch that will probably be taken on Mischa Mokwa hike in October.

The meals eaten on this hike included the following…Rainier Rice served as burritos with cheese, San Juan Stroganoff, and Southwest Chili. After the fine cuisine and a desert of double stuff OREO cookies we continued the hike and arrived back at the parking lot around 2:30pm.

After the hike we stopped by Young’s Golden Jersey Inn for dinner and believe it or not ice cream…

Scoutmaster Dale would like to thank all the youth that attended for the their great attitude all day it makes easy to understand why so many adults volunteer to help with scout groups all over the Miami Valley. Mr. Dale would also like to thank the adults that made this event such a success.
